Are you an entrepreneur?

Winston Churchill once said, "If you're going through hell, keep going."

This quote is really applicable to entrepreneurs. Mainly because rarely, if ever, does the process of starting and growing a company go smoothly.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step."  - Lao Tzu, Ancient Chinese Philosopher

As an entrepreneur, your journey is the process of transforming your idea into an outrageously successful company. And your first step is getting your idea into a business plan.

Most budding entrepreneurs get tripped up on this first step. And as a result, they never come close to completing their journey.

Do I have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

Ask yourself this question. Like any business venture, business requires an investment of time, energy and resources. Now who is an entrepreneur? He is a person who has decided to take control of his future and become self-employed—whether by creating his own unique business or working as a member of a "team," as in multi-level marketing. Entrepreneurs have a "head for business." They are always thinking of new ideas and new ways to make money or increase their business. They are not afraid to put these ideas to use. Entrepreneurs are usually honourable people who do business based on a handshake or a promise. They tend to form strong associations with others who share this work ethic.

What is an entrepreneur?
Many studies have tried to find out what characteristics entrepreneurs have in common. An entrepreneur is someone who takes risks but also has excellent skills in management, communication and finance.

If you can answer yes to the following questions, you may want to consider owning a business:

  • Are you organized?
  • Do you pay attention to details?
  • Do you get things done?
  • Do you have tons of energy?
  • Can you handle surprises without getting stressed out?
  • Do you take negative experiences and turn them into life lessons?
  • Can you lead a team with respect and courage?
  • Do you take responsibility?
  • Do you have awesome decision-making skills?

What makes an entrepreneur successful?
Even if you have the characteristics of an entrepreneur, you also need specific skills to succeed. When choosing your product or service, remember that being inventive is not the same as being entrepreneurial. If you have a new and clever product, but not the management skills or selling abilities, you may fail.

Successful entrepreneurs balance developing and producing their product with managing their business.
